The ear lift is in fashion all over the world. While it’s all the rage, if you plan to have one, consider taking a few precautions to prevent damage to your earlobe. Ear stretching is an age-old tradition observed among many ethnic groups in India, East Asia, and other ancient civilizations in Egypt and South America. It is a symbol of status, beauty, or both, depending on what creates a culture. However, today, many Westerners have adopted the ear lift as a fad. They stretch the earlobes to show off body jewelry. It is also a way for some to create a different identity for themselves. In the United States, the younger generation associates ear lift with lifestyle choice and punk fashion. However, if you are planning an ear lift job, it is advisable to take the following precautions:

Gradually stretch

If you have a size 20 or 18 ear piercing and want to stretch it to 00 gauge, do not drill a larger hole rather than gradually. Drilling a hole can remove a large amount of tissue, making it difficult to reduce size later. Gradual stretching provides sufficient healing time, preventing scarring and restoring flexibility to the earlobe.

Use earplugs and earplugs made of stainless steel for a simple and almost painless stretching. You can also use ear tunnels instead of plugs. They are almost similar, but hollow in the center.

Observe hygiene

Prepare your earlobe for stretching. Apply vitamin E or jojoba oil. Before starting the reduction process, apply the warm water compress to the area. Disinfect the hearing aids before use and lubricate them with a water-based solution. Once the cone has passed through the hole, replace it with the plug or tunnel. Upon completing the process for both ears, soak the earlobes in a water-based sea salt solution for five minutes each. Cleanse and massage daily for faster healing. Occasionally rest your ears by setting them free. Let your ear heal completely, before moving on to the next round of stretching.

Precautions

Do not use acrylic cones, as body temperature can easily degrade it to release toxins. Do not use wood or bone plugs, as they need more care. Do not use petroleum jelly to lubricate the cone, as petroleum jelly can trap bacteria and cause an infection.

Consult a professional

Always consult a piercing professional before beginning the stretching process. During the stretching process, if at any time you feel uncomfortable or develop an infection, immediately consult a professional for medical advice and help.
