I had the pleasure this weekend of visiting the McGraw Ford Georgia WMA and found it to be a nice little Georgia WMA. The only thing I really didn’t like was the fact that there were literally no places to stay overnight nearby. This whole Georgia WMA is only about two thousand two hundred acres, so it’s not a really big Georgia WMA. The roads on the Georgia DNR map were pretty correct, however getting there from I-75 from Atlanta proved to be a chore. I put very specific directions on my enhanced WMA map of Georgia clarifying some roads that didn’t have names, and I also showed some of the food hot spots on my enhanced map.

One thing I liked was that the Etowah River runs right through this Georgia WMA, and there was very easy access and parking along the bridge across the Etowah River, where hunters could park and walk along the Etowah River to locate good hunting spots. I ate at two different steakhouses while there, and one was good, and one was amazing. I first ate at Two Brothers BBQ just outside the Georgia WMA. I had a BBQ sandwich and was not very impressed. To start with there were very few options on the menu, and you could only order minced pork, which I personally prefer sliced ​​pork, they bring the sandwich to you wrapped in thin paper and don’t give you a plate to put it on. The Brunswick stew was a porridge style, which I prefer more of a stew style rather than an actual porridge. I can say that Two Brothers BBQ had friendly staff and a nice atmosphere with hardwood floors and country collectibles lining the walls. You should know that they are only open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from thirty ten am to nine pm They are closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The second barbecue place I found was a very small joint called Amos BBQ. Amos’s BBQ was to die for, the stew was perfect and the pork was so juicy. They had a huge menu of items to choose from, and most importantly for us hunters, they serve an unbelievably amazing breakfast. They had a variety of fresh homemade biscuits including steak, chicken, tenderloin, hot link, sausage, bacon, and gravy. The barbecue is truly smoked in a smoker and not exposed to open flames so all of their meats had that great classic smoky flavor. I have to say that the prices were very reasonable. They have been there for five years and the owners name is Paul Johnson. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 5:30 am to 8:00 pm, Thursday through Saturday, 5:30 am to 9:00 pm They are closed on Sundays and stop serving breakfast at 10:30 am or until all breakfast is gone.

I’ve put both barbecue spots on my enhanced WMA map of Georgia for future reference. Outside of these two BBQ joints, I couldn’t find any other places to eat worth mentioning. I saw a little sandwich shop right in the middle of the little town, but it looked very expensive. I walked in the door and saw a wine list with really expensive wines and sandwiches and turned around and walked out. It’s not my kind of place.

Finally, this GMA of Georgia made the trip of a perfect day for me, I had breakfast at Amos’s BBQ, I went out to the forest around nine o’clock, I hunted to lunch, I went to Two Brothers Pit Bbq for lunch, I returned and hung along the Etowah River for a few more hours, although I saw nothing, it was a pleasant walk with good views, and then I went and then I went to love. I finished the day. Overall, this is a perfect place to get there early, with good food and easy access to many hunting areas, and would give it a good Georgia WMA rating that I will definitely return to, but no overnight facilities.
