The Dukan diet is a diet in four phases. You can think of it as actually four diets back to back. The great success of the Dukan diet is due to the fact that its creator, the French nutritionist Dr. Pierre Dukan, recognized that in the course of a diet the requirements of the dieter change. For example, most people are aware that a major problem with dieting is weight gain after stopping the diet. The third stage of the Dukan diet is a diet to cover this period, ensuring that all the lost weight is not regained. In this article, I’m going to look at snacks that can be enjoyed during all four phases of the diet.

People who follow the Dukan diet rarely feel hungry or crave food. Being a high-protein, low-carb diet, the need to snack is not urgent. However, snacking isn’t just about being hungry. We snack when we’re hungry, but we also snack when we’re bored or just because the people we’re with are having a snack. At home, a quick and easy treat can be some thinly sliced ​​beef with mustard. Or, you can enjoy some surimi sticks (crab sticks). What is not allowed, if you are on a diet, is a bag of chips or a handful of nuts.

This is only really a problem if you’re out and about for a snack. It is not impossible, by any means, to carry a bit of chopped chicken, a pot of low-fat yogurt or a bit of surimi, but it is not so practical. Also, if you’re snacking with friends, you’ll want to eat snacks similar to theirs.

My solution to this problem is to buy you a bag of beef jerky or biltong. If you have the option, biltong is much friendlier to the Dukan diet as it contains less sugar. Both are available in bags similar to the ones that come with potato chips, and both are as easy to transport as a bag of chips. More importantly, they contain much less fat, sugar, and salt than potato-based snacks. Jerky and biltong are also delicious to eat.
