Most people are overwhelmed by the amount of information available on the web.

In short, these are the ways that most people can earn money by using the Internet.

There are several ways to make money online, but I’m going to summarize the most common ones:

1. Affiliate Marketing – This is the area that I currently make passive income from. In short, affiliate marketing involves driving traffic to someone’s website that has products on sale.

These are the ways an affiliate gets paid through affiliate marketing.

A. Cost Per Sale (CPS) – In short, you get paid every time you can direct someone to buy something on the seller’s site. Traffic to the person’s site is tracked by a file known as a “cookie” that is embedded on the visitor’s computer once they click on a link you provide that takes them to the product page. Now depending on the type of product you sell, you can earn commissions from 3% (from a program like Amazon Associates) or up to 75% (from some ClickBank products).

B. Cost Per Click (CPC) – This is when a merchant pays you every time you can direct someone to simply click on a link that leads to the merchant’s website. Pay per click earnings are usually in cents or a few dollars, depending on how much commission he can get from the seller. The CPC commission is generally much lower than the CPS commission. Getting paid this way, similar to Pay Per Lead (see Pay Per Lead below) is easier to achieve than CPS, because people are more likely to click on a link than to purchase a product directly .

C. Cost per action (CPA) – Ebay’s affiliate program is the largest in the world. For every user you refer to your site, eBay will pay you to have that person sign up! That’s how it is! You get paid for someone just by signing up to sign up for Ebay! CPA stands for Cost Per Action, which means you get paid for anyone you refer to your site and take some kind of action. E.g. download a file or sign up for an account. This one is pretty easy to do, right?

D. Cost per lead (CPL) – This is when the merchant pays you every time you generate a possible lead for him. A possible lead might include a potential customer’s email address, contact phone number, or home address. The commission you get is also usually very small compared to CPS. However, this is much easier to do. It’s much easier to get someone to give you their email address than it is to buy a product.

E.Cost per thousand (CPM) – This is where you get paid to send 1,000 people to a particular site, and all they have to do is VIEW THE SITE TO GET PAID! So, in other words, you just push people to a site, and none of them have to buy anything, and you still get paid! Wow!

Affiliate marketing is my personal favorite way to make money online, because you are simply sending someone to someone else’s website and if you send enough people, you make sales!

That means you don’t even need to have a product, and in some cases you don’t even need a website if you depend on paid traffic (but the downside is that you have to pay for traffic).
