From a survey of the political landscape in the Middle East, it appears that the usual saber rattling in the region has picked up a bit. We are all well aware of the political and anti-Semitic rantings of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and, more recently, Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan. But an interesting article was published today that seems to show that Jordan’s King Abdullah is now joining the growing chorus of saber-rattling directed at Israel. Jordan is one of two Arab countries with a “peace” agreement with Israel, the other being Egypt. King Abdullah was reported to have declared that Jordan was better off without peace with Israel. Israel’s national news website reports:

Jordan’s King Abdullah joined the Arab world’s saber rattling against Israel, warning that the status of Jerusalem could erupt into another war. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he also claimed that Jordan was better off economically before it made peace with Israel in 1994.

Capitalizing on the US-led diplomatic offensive against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Obama’s negative attitude towards Israel, he said: “I think the overlap that happened between Prime Minister Netanyahu and myself 10 or 11 years ago was not very nice. It was actually the most unpleasant three months in the relationship between Jordan and Israel… Our relationship with Israel is at an all time low. It hasn’t been as bad as it is today and not as tense as it is today.”

As we can see, King Abdullah is trying to take advantage of the recent political dispute between Israel and the United States. Jordan’s King Abdullah is like many other Islamists and wants to get the most out of his investment as tensions escalate between Israel and the United States. Jordan believes that it will be very important in any final two-state solution, as it will be the closest country to any new Palestinian state. Currently, Jordanians also help “manage” the Temple Mount and Dome of the Rock through the Islamic Waqf that was established shortly after Israel captured eastern Jerusalem in the 1967 Six-Day War.

In the INN article, it appears that King Abdullah tried several times to repeat the threat that failure to establish a Palestinian state west of the Jordan River and resolve the status of Jerusalem would ignite Islamic tension and frustration in the region. King Abdullah went on to state:

In the interview, he warned three times that the lack of a new PA state west of the Jordan and the failure to establish Jerusalem’s status in accordance with Arab demands could ignite Muslim frustration and anger.

The king also maintained that “Jerusalem specifically engages with Jordan because we are the custodians of Muslim and Christian holy sites and this is a critical point that goes beyond Jordanian-Israeli relations.” Neither King Abdullah nor the interviewer pointed out that Jordan denied Jewish and Christian access to holy sites when it illegally occupied most of Jerusalem, including the Old City, the Temple Mount and the Western Wall, between 1949 and 1967. This it was the result of his successful invasion of Jerusalem. the beleaguered young state of Israel. Jerusalem was never recognized by any other nation as belonging to Jordan.

“Political trust is gone,” he said. “There is no real economic relationship between Jordan and Israel. So economically we were better off in trade and movement before my father signed the peace treaty.”

While Abdullah talks about how bad things have gotten politically with Israel, it was also noted that Jordan has begun to lean more towards Syria, who, as we know, is closely aligned with the future Gog and Magog invaders of Ezekiel 38- 39. While the Islamic invaders of Ezekiel 38-39 are Muslim countries led by Russia, it should be noted that the main participants in the upcoming conflicts of Psalm 83 and Isaiah 17 are Arabs. This would seem to include all the Arab countries of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and of course the various terrorist factions on the border with Israel. It seems to me that this rhetoric being spouted by King Abdullah of Jordan could potentially be further indication and evidence that the fulfillment of Psalm 83 and perhaps Isaiah 17 is not far on the prophetic horizon.

King Abdullah was also quoted in reference to the growing ties between Jordan and Syria. These comments come despite the fact that Jordan basically has the friendliest Islamic ties to Israel of any country in the Middle East. King Abdullah was also reported to have said:

Although Jordan is considered to have the warmest relations with Israel, King Abdullah’s comment reflects a shift towards warmer relations with Syria. “We are a kind of power brigade…us and other countries, trying to see where the issues of contention are between the Israelis and the Palestinians and make the atmosphere more friendly,” he said. “Jordan’s relationship with Syria is better than it has been in a long time; probably the best that ever was,” he told the Journal. “So the engagement now between the Syrian and Jordanian government on economic cooperation is at an all time high.”

During the course of the interview, King Abdullah went back to the demographic card and noted that within eight to ten years, fifty percent of Israel would be Arab. While this demographic card has been played several times during the negotiations, there is much controversy over this claim and there is some evidence that Islamic births are on a downward spiral while Jewish births are on the rise. Abdullah rejected any suggestion that Jordan absorb the Palestinians, this is ironic because Jordan is one of the main true origins of the Palestinian people. The truth is that Abdullah is not interested in absorbing the Palestinians and making them become rioters and creating chaos in his kingdom, nor is he interested in harboring Hamas and other terror groups that are used to running rampant in Gaza and the West Bank. King Abdullah is only interested in forcing Israel to make concessions to the general Islamic goal of the eventual destruction of the Jewish state.

It is my opinion that these unusual comments coming from King Abdullah of Jordan could be an indication that we are getting closer and closer to the scenario of Psalm 83 and perhaps even the fulfillment of Isaiah 17, since Syria has made recent announcements that it will not they will stay still. in the upcoming conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. These comments and threats have the potential to bring about the fulfillment of prophecies that will lead us directly into the coming Tribulation period and the revelation of the future Antichrist. But before the Tribulation and the Antichrist appear, the rapture of the church will lead the believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to Heaven before the wrath of God is poured out during the Tribulation period on unbelieving Israel and unrepentant sinners. . With all the hoopla and threats being thrown around the Middle East these days, I recommend everyone keep looking up as our redemption draws near!

God bless you.
