Shopping for a laptop these days can be quite tricky because there are so many brands out there looking for your attention. I have been following the laptop market for years and that is why all my friends consult me before buying their laptop. As far as what the market currently has to offer, my two favorites are the Lenovo ThinkPad laptop and the Asus Eee PC 1001P. Other than that, I have shortlisted two more. Be sure to check out these laptops before you buy one.

1. Sony: There is no specific model number; they are all really great. I have written many reviews of Sony laptops over the years and have found that these laptops are a bit expensive. Sony attaches great importance to the appearance of its products and therefore pays a lot of attention to it. For the most part, you pay more for the good looks and not for better performance. But there are also some Sony laptops that cost more and provide mind-blowing performance.

2. Dell Inspiron Mini 10v Netbook: Dell has always been very good at making laptops, but I’m mentioning a netbook here because it’s a bit different from the others. I liked this computer because it offers many features that are only found in more expensive netbooks. The price of the Mini 10v stays under $300, and therefore the deal is delicious. The chassis on this unit also feels good.

However, the Mini 10v is not perfect, I did not like that Dell does not offer as many configuration options as in the other Netbooks. The screen also doesn’t have that edge-to-edge glass you find on the Mini 10. I would still recommend this Netbook as it offers excellent value for money.

3. Lenovo ThinkPad Laptop: Lenovo ThinkPad laptops are made for business users and the best thing about these laptops is their comfortable keyboard. I have two Lenovo laptops to recommend; get the one that suits you

• Lenovo ThinkPad X201 3626 – This is a small 12-inch laptop that houses a very powerful processor, battery life is really good, and build quality is also excellent.

• Lenovo ThinkPad X100e: Has one of the best keyboards I’ve seen on a netbook. The screen is matte, which is rarely found on laptops or netbooks these days.

4. Asus Eee PC 1001P – This laptop is again designed for people who think appearance is very important. He was a little worried about the sexy looks, since he figured the manufacturer would charge more for it. However, the price remains at $299, which is really good. The battery life of this Netbook is also at the level of other competing products. On the other hand, this computer has nothing out of the box compared to other netbooks on the market. The interior hardware is the same. I would still recommend this to you because of the good looks and low price.
