"To the one who has more will be given" – What This Bible Verse Can Really Mean

– Matthew 13:12

“Whoever has, more will be given, and he will have plenty. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away.”

I used to wonder about this New Testament verse spoken by Yeshua Ben-Joseph (Jesus). Why would a loving Infinite take away whatever little wealth a person in poverty has? But one day the simple meaning of this verse hits me. I would slightly rephrase the translation of Yeshua’s words.

“Who realizes that he has [abundance] more will be given to him, and he will have plenty. Who does not realize that he has [abundance]even what he has will be taken from him/[slip away] of the.

Reading between mystical lines, verse 12 of the thirteenth chapter of Matthew might read like this:

Whoever realizes that he has abundance of any amount and is grateful for it, will draw more to himself and have even more abundance. He who does not even realize that he is rich and is grateful for whatever measure of abundance he has, even what he has will escape him because like attracts like.

This explains why we see that poor people who cannot raise their attitudes remain poor or get poorer. This explains why those who don’t seem to have much but are grateful for what they do have are joyful and even attract higher levels of abundance into their lives.

When we don’t stop and realize what we have, it’s not a God outside of us taking something away from us. Rather, it is we creators who, by channeling our focus in the wrong direction, are creating financial hardship or loneliness for ourselves, often without realizing it.

Those who teach and write chapters and books on the power of gratitude are, in essence, teaching on this verse from the Bible. Gratitude is a hugely effective way of acknowledging that we have all kinds of riches in our lives. When we acknowledge the existence of something, we give it our attention and focus, and when we give focus to something, it just expands and multiplies in our lives!
