Below is a sample contract designed to help teachers of English with classroom management, particularly with seniors, and can also be used as a model for students studying law or business.

Student-teacher contract.

Objective:

The purpose of this agreement is to ensure that the student and teacher understand their responsibilities to each other and to the class as a whole with regard to facilitating an optimal learning environment, both inside and outside the classroom.

Legality:

This agreement is a morally binding bilateral contract. This is not intended to be a legally binding agreement.

Definitions:

or _____________________School; called; the school, means the person whose signature appears on this agreement in connection with the heading, ‘__________________ School’ or a duly designated superior employee thereof.

or The Master; referred to as ‘the teacher’, means the person whose signature appears on this agreement in connection with the heading, ‘The Teacher’.

o The Student; referred to as ‘the student’, means the person whose signature appears on this agreement in connection with the title, ‘The Student’.

or The Father; For purposes of this agreement, ‘parent’ means the legal guardian of ‘student’ as previously mentioned in this agreement. And it has the same meaning as ‘the student’ when the student is a minor.

Arbitration:

The school agrees to act as arbitrator in the event that any part of this agreement is disputed.

Terms:

The Teacher agrees to do the following:

1. Always respect the student

2. Provide classes that are relevant to the subject and the needs of the student.

3. Always start and end classes on time, when possible

4. Offer the best possible exam preparation

5. Being aware of the student’s understanding of assigned tasks and not criticizing lack of understanding

6. Provide the best possible learning environment for the student

7. Always be fair in the application of the school’s disciplinary policy.

8. Be open to suggestions regarding the application of this agreement, from all parties named in this agreement

9. Provide homework in quantity and content that will challenge the student and encourage him or her to improve proficiency in the subject matter being taught.

10. Do not discuss personal details about the student, without their consent, with parties not named in this agreement

The student agrees to do the following:

1. Always respect the Master

2. Have faith in the belief that the lessons the teacher teaches are relevant to the topic and the needs of the students.

3. Strive to understand the instructions given by the teacher, listening and asking questions (raise your hand) if the instructions are not understood.

4. Always be prepared to start and finish class on time

5. Help the teacher provide the best possible learning environment for the student and the class as a whole.

6. Except for suggestions for improvement by the teacher, knowing that they are given in order to help the student in learning.

7. Make every effort to complete homework and all assignments assigned to the student

8. To except any discipline given to the student by the teacher, as long as it is within the guidelines established in the school’s disciplinary procedures.

9. Prepare as well as possible for exams

10. To discuss matters concerning the teacher, only with the parties named in this agreement

Disputes:

All parties have the right to dispute this agreement.
In the event that any of the parties to this agreement wishes to dispute any part of this agreement or the application thereof.

They may, within 7 days after the event, submit a written request to the arbitrator citing the part of the agreement they wish to dispute and request a meeting with the arbitrator to discuss the event.
