You’ve probably heard phrases like “all humans are mammals, but not all mammals are human.” This concept that one thing is another but that the other is not necessarily the only type of the first is an important distinction when trying to differentiate between a psychic and a medium. They are not necessarily the same.

Let’s define a bit first. A medium is a person who has an active connection to the spirit world and can often communicate with those who have passed away, Spirit Guides, and other spirit entities and energies. Also, all mediums are psychic. On the other hand, a psychic is a person who can tune into the energy of people and objects and can use this energy to observe and determine things about the past and the future. Also, psychics tend to rely heavily on their intuition and instincts to make predictions. Not all psychics are mediums.

I tend to work primarily as a psychic, but I am also a medium. I find that mediumship requires a completely different level of concentration, awareness, and energy production to perform, while psychic work tends to be a bit easier. Because we’ve all lost a loved one, most people tend to want to know more about mediumship and how it works, so my goal is to explain it to you.

My experience as a psychic medium will not be the same as someone else’s. When I work as a psychic medium and “see” Spirit through clairvoyance, people often wonder if I am actually seeing spirit physically (so to speak) in the room. Yes and no. If you grew up in the late 1980s and early 1990s, you will remember the overheads in your school’s classrooms. One teacher was able to take a sheet of transparent paper and place it on a machine that would pop the image onto the paper and project it onto the wall. This is how I experience the Spirit when I see them. It is very similar to if someone places a transparency on the world. “Listen” the spirit is very different. In fact, I get words written on a huge mental movie screen that I can then read and transmit to a client.

As with any profession, there are mediums who specialize in certain things, such as helping law enforcement solve crimes. There are other mediums who help trapped souls to cross to the other side. I don’t deal with law enforcement at all and have only had to help a trapped soul crossing once, which is something that happened when I assisted a friend who lived in a genuinely haunted house.

I think it’s important to note that despite what a psychic may tell you about your future, you must realize that nothing you see is completely set in stone. The energy patterns change and there is the whole concept of free will. I also discovered that working as a medium, it is often not the crusaders who require my help, it is the left-behind who have trouble dealing with their absence.

With any reading, it is important to keep an open mind and set a positive intention for Spirit so that you can make the most of your experience. Let your intuition and instincts lead you to know who should do a reading for you, keeping in mind that there is no one closer to your deceased loved ones than you.

Be blessed.
