Prophecy: 8 Reasons Why Most People Don’t Receive What God Spoke Over Their Lives

As a child of God, you have many and countless promises as clearly articulated and recorded in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. He may even be holding on to a prophetic word delivered to him by a man or woman of God. There are many who quote the Scriptures and declare and decree that his advancement is under way without success. Does this mean that these people never heard from God in the first place or is it a clear manifestation that something is wrong somewhere? In this article I intend to address those who are recipients of a prophetic word from God who are struggling with the problem of why they have not received what was promised. These are some of the reasons.

1. You do not believe, therefore you cannot receive. You assume it’s for someone else and not yourself because you don’t feel entitled to the promise. Let me tell you that when the rain of God’s favor and grace falls, he will water the fields of the bad and the good. This is not the kind of favor I am referring to here. I mean the special grace He bestows on you because He is God. If you don’t believe it, there is no way you will receive it even though God has spoken about it.

2. You ignore God, his nature and who you are in him; that’s why you live like a servant when you’re his friend. When He tells you things about your life, you don’t embrace them, you don’t dig further for more details about the way forward. You know the destination and you have no map. This explains why you are lost. Yes, you know where you are supposed to end up, but you have no revelation, therefore you have no idea where you are going to end up.

3. You are careless in terms of how you handle your daily affairs in life. God is more interested in your transformation than in the fulfillment of the promise. He gave it to you in the first place, but he can withhold certain things because you haven’t prepared for it. You have no morals, virtues, principles by which you live your life. You are a saint in the church and a sinner outside of it and you still have the audacity to name and claim it. You are not progressing spiritually because you are going in circles dealing with the same problems all the time. In the absence of growth and maturity there will be no progress or acceleration of the promise. God’s love is not conditional, but his promises and rewards are. The fruit of the earth is for those who obey. Anyone who enjoys the fruit of the land without obedience does so illegally.

4. You don’t believe with all your heart. Sometimes doubt creeps into your mind and you start to question and interrogate the promise instead of doubting your doubts. You start feeding your doubt by giving it prominence in your mind. Your duty is to believe with all your heart without ever turning to the left or to the right because God has not changed his mind.

5. You give in at the first instance of trial and tribulation instead of holding on to the promise and having faith in God. Fear grips you and you are intimidated by the evidence on the ground. Every conviction will be tested and the enemy will attack everyone who is in the line of God’s favor. Nobody said it was going to be easy. The fact that you carry that prophecy, that dream, that vision is because God has put within you a soldier’s heart to fight for your things for the benefit of the kingdom of God.

6. Lack of understanding of times and time will lead you to do things wrong. You will be in the prayer room still praying for something that God has already released into your life. You are in the fields farming when you should be in the market consolidating and reaping the rewards of your labor. Understanding the times will help you interpret the times and allow you to do the right thing.

7. There is no labor without pain, therefore, you will only have what was conceived in your spiritual womb through the agony and pain of laborious prayer. It is the only vehicle through which the things of God are brought into material reality.

8. The problems of the past that dominate life can come and steal the word that God has placed in your spirit as you struggle to fight and prove yourself instead of standing still and knowing that He is God. I’m in a season where I think God just wants to show his love for me. The devil doesn’t like it and he has a tendency to bring up the past so that I feel unqualified, but if God qualifies me, I am indeed qualified and in that I am satisfied.

There is a time and a place for the fulfillment of every vision and prophecy under the earth. We have a God in heaven who does not lie. I have done my best to share some of the things that can stand between you and your prophetic destiny. The intention is not to discourage you further, but to bring transformation into your life that will create the right climate in your life for the ordered things to happen. God does not build on the wrong foundation, so allow him to take care of the issues that have to do with your personal transformation and I guarantee your day is coming. He is watching his word to carry it out. He sows the seed of faith, expects the miraculous and we can say that this is the work of the Lord and it is wonderful in our eyes.
