It takes work and some patience to make the toilet and bathroom area spotless. While it’s not something we all look forward to, it’s a task we can’t run away from. But if you follow a process, working on one area at a time, you’ll ensure that you’re doing an efficient job of cleaning.

Follow these 10 steps on how to clean your bathroom effectively and efficiently:

Step 1 – Clean the bathroom

For the most efficient cleaning, remove ALL items from the bathroom. It’s better to delete everything at once rather than on the fly. Put all your small items in a storage box outside the bathroom, and toss all used linens (including rugs) in the washer.

Step 2 – Dust and Sweep

Get out your feather duster and dust all surfaces. Use a long-handled one to reach into corners, light fixtures, and vents. Once all surfaces are clean, sweep (or vacuum) your bathroom floor to remove dust, debris, and hair.

Step 3 – Apply Cleaner

Apply cleaner to your bathroom surfaces. If you clean regularly, you can use an all-purpose cleaner, but an acid-based cleaner is recommended if you need to remove buildup from your tiles. Let it soak.

Step 4 – Clean

Apply the cleaner to your cloth or sponge and begin cleaning other surfaces like your shower rail, shelves, towel bars, baseboards, windows, blinds, and doors. To be most efficient, work in sections from the top of the room, going from left to right.

Step 5 – Preparing to Clean the Floor

Follow your cleaner’s instructions and mix the recommended amount with a full bucket of warm water.

Step 6 – Scrub

Rub buildup and loose dirt from surfaces. At this point, the cleaner has done most of the work for you, so the job will be easier. Be sure to go over all surfaces before rinsing.

Step 7 – Finish the shower area

Replace any items you removed from the shower and/or tub area, wiping them down with a clean cloth as you go. Spray glass cleaner on the shower door if you have one and wipe before closing.

Step 8 – Work the vanity area

Spray an all-purpose cleaner on the countertop, faucet, and sink, then wipe with a clean cloth. Use a rough sponge to loosen buildup in the sink or soap dish for cleaning. Use a glass cleaner for your mirror.

Step 9 – Scrub the toilet

Use the all-purpose cleaner if you regularly scrub the inside of your toilet. If there is any buildup, use a bathroom cleaner and scrub with a toilet brush. Spray exterior with all-purpose cleaner, then wipe clean.

Step 10 – Mop the floor

Dip your mop into the prepared cleaning solution, wring out the excess, and then get to work on your bathroom floor. Let dry. Once dry, lay out freshly laundered rugs or rugs and replace the trash can.

Follow these 10 easy steps to clean your bathroom efficiently.
