How can you help your children celebrate Father’s Day?

Older children can enjoy activities that make their dad happy; go hiking, fishing, playing ball, or watching sports together. They can be creative and make a unique card, cake or breakfast in bed. Many families enjoy a cookout or camping trip.

Younger children may not be able to participate in all of these activities, so what better way to enjoy time together than reading a book with Dad.

Gator Dad, A Brave Bear and Peppa Pig and the Camping Trip are three new picture books released in 2016 that explore the bond between father and son.

It’s easy to be a brave bear with your dad by your side.

The sun was hot.

The air was hot.

Even the shade was hot.

And my dad said, “I think a couple of hot bears is probably the hottest thing in the world.”

But I had a good idea.

I said, “If we go to the river, we can splash around and cool off!”

Dad said, “Okay, let’s go then!”

But the trip to the river may not be so easy.

You have to cross the grassy part.

Then the busy part to push.

After that, you have to jump from rock to rock.

Baby bear is challenged to make the long walk to the river, but with his father’s encouragement, he succeeds.

We play and cool off.

And I said, “I think a couple of wet bears is probably the wettest thing in the world!”

This sweet story of a father bear and his brave cub is enhanced by illustrator Emily Hughes. Its soft colors and charming illustrations are inspired by the picture books of the 60s and 70s.
