What exactly is sexuality? According to WebMD, sexuality is: 1. The sum of a person’s sexual behaviors and tendencies, and the strength of those tendencies; 2. One’s degree of sexual attractiveness; or 3. The quality of having sexual functions or implications. But what does that mean?

The sum of a person’s sexual behaviors and tendencies, and the strength of those tendencies, means, according to Wikipedia, the “way in which humans experience and express their sexuality.” and how you show your sexuality to others. Do you feel sexy and feminine, or sexy and manly, as the case may be? And if so, how do you express those feelings/emotions to other people? Do you dress in low-cut shirts? show a little chest to attract the beast, or in the case of men, in t-shirts with the arms and neck cut off to show off all those muscles you have to attract the other beast? about shy people, how they express themselves sexually, perhaps by being ‘brave’ and wearing shorts above the knee? Every person is different and every person shows her sexuality in different ways. None is wrong, it is not a test! It is each person expressing himself in his own way.

What about the number 2, one’s degree of sex appeal, which means sex appeal? What really is sex appeal? Some would say that it is a person’s traits that make them look physically pleasing and attractive to another person. Of course, what is physically attractive and pleasurable for one person may not be for another. Some people are drawn to modeling skinny women or burly, muscular men! Others are not attracted to those traits in a person in the slightest. They may be more attracted to a woman of normal weight, or even overweight. Or for men of normal complexion or for men with a few extra kilos, or even many extra kilos. One person’s sexual attraction to another, given human diversity, is really “in the eye of the beholder.”

So what about the third definition? The quality of having sexual functions or implications. Everyone has the ability to function: everyone is equipped with sexual equipment (ie penises or breasts and vaginas). But can they all function, for example, have sexual desire, arousal, and the ability to complete the sexual act in a way that is satisfactory to both parties involved in the act? Participation is, of course, a person’s participation in the sexual act.
