The surface area is 26,800 acres, with a maximum depth of 20 feet. The pool is 168.5 feet above sea level, with an annual fluctuation of 4 to 8 feet. The state of the water is normally moderately clear to tinted.

Known for its excellent bass fishing, anglers love to fish Caddo Lake. In addition to the excellent bass fishing, there is an abundance of Crappie, White Bass, and Chain Pickerel, making it the perfect fishing trip for the whole family.

Caddo Lake is a confiscated natural lake that has vegetation that covers more than 95% of the surface water on the Texas side. The water is shallow with abundant cypress trees throughout the lake and the fishing piers are also a good place to fish.

Fish are most active during the fall, winter, and spring months due to the cooler weather. Fish are active much longer during daylight hours and are typically found in shallow water in the early morning and late afternoon. For active fish, spinning baits and crank baits are the choice of most anglers. A variety of watermelon green plastic worms seem to do well during the warmer months caught in grass. Early morning is a fisherman’s dream on this lake … upper water baits are just about anything that floats. Typically Poppers, Prop Baits, Flukes, or just about any Stick Bait.
