Oris is known for making excellently designed and manufactured wristwatches at prices below its competitors. The TT2 Williams F1 Day Date watch is no exception. It was designed to commemorate the Oris sponsorship provided to the Williams BMW F1 racing team. The clean lines of the Oris Williams F1 watch truly reflect the spirit of a technically leading sport.

The Oris TT2 Williams F1 Day Date watch comes with many features that you would expect from an Oris watch; Solid stainless steel case and bracelet, sapphire crystal and ETA 2836-2 movement. What is especially attractive is the blue luminous material used on the dial; we’ll talk about that later.

The case

The case is 40.5mm in diameter and built in a three-piece design, which makes it quite unusual as most watch manufacturers are abandoning this method of construction – the fewer parts, the fewer points of failure. The fit is impeccable and the three separate pieces have a polished/brushed/polished finish which gives a very nice contrast. The case is angled at the back at the 3 and 9 positions, providing a very comfortable fit. The back of the display case is a very nice feature. I like being able to see the inner workings of a wristwatch. Unlike most sports watches, the case back is fixed with 4 screws instead of the usual screw on the case back – the use of screws gives the Oris Williams watch a sporty and rugged look. Finally, the bezel is squared, which makes the case appear larger and seems to stick out more from the case.

the dial.

The dial appears to have been made of blue carbon fiber, but it is not. In fact, the effect has been achieved by printing a blue pattern on the black base dial. It would have been better if Oris had used blue carbon fiber, but unless you look very closely you can’t tell the difference. The outer dial is black and complements the blue dial. The day and date function is very nice, as are the polished stainless steel hour and minute hands that have been dipped in a blue luminous material for half their length; unusual, as most luminous hands on other watches generally extend the length of the hand. . Blue luminous material is also used on each of the hour markers; the Arabic numerals 3, 9 and 12 are also made of a blue luminous material.

The crown

The large signed crown perfectly matches the style of the watch; the large size and ribbing make it easy to roll. However, it does not come with the added security of a screw-down crown.

The bracelet

Oris is known for making some of the strongest and most reliable wristbands around. The Oris TT2 Williams F1 Day Date watch bracelet is no exception. It is constructed of solid stainless steel, with press-fit pins for the removable links. The bracelet tapers slightly from the rotating case links to the third link; Again, this is a bit unusual for a sports watch, but it looks good on this particular watch. The clasp is a single button that opens and closes smoothly and stays strong and comes with the Oris logo as you’d expect.

Many commemorative or sponsored watches are made to profit from one product or another with the build quality and aesthetics of the watch taking second place. Not so with the Oris TT2 Williams F1 Day Date wristwatch. Its price is affordable for many consumers, and its style and build quality equals, if not surpasses, many of its more expensive rivals.
