Worgen are a new alliance race introduced in the Cataclysm Expansion. Your starting area is the Ruins of Gilneas and Gilneas City, where you’ll first spend your time trying to clear out the worgen from the starting area. Then your character will accidentally get bitten, you’ll transform into a worgen, and some guy in the questline will give you the ability to control when you change into a worgen and not.

Worgen will not have a racial mount, they will be able to run around the map in form. For those of you who are going to start a worgen and want to level up through the starting areas as quickly as possible, here are some tips and information to get you started.

1) The new Cataclysm Zones and much of the redone Cataclysm content are now progressions through the story lines and are mostly inescapable. This means your character will be given 1-4 quests at a time, upon completion those same quest givers will give you a next round of quests as you head to the new area. A step-by-step leveling guide or an in-game addon leveling guide won’t do any good, as there won’t be any variance in paths.

2) The best thing you can do to level up fast is to familiarize yourself with the map layouts, the NPC areas, and where you will go at each point. Anyone equipped with this information will be able to level up through the starting area, which ends at level 12-15; in a matter of a few hours.

3) In order to level up faster than normal, it is also recommended that each player acknowledges that although the interface built into the maps shows where each quest is delivered and the area to complete; it was meant to help players. Which is often slightly tender or completely off the mark. Don’t take for granted that the game interface will help you level up efficiently.
