Kevin Ferguson, now better known as Kimbo Slice, is a street fighter who won an infamy of unprecedented proportions after fighting people in home videos. He is also a bodyguard for the adult film producer In the VIP. Kimbo became known for his Miami street fights with his backyard fight videos, beginning in 2004.

Kimbo Slice vs. Big D

Kimbo Slice’s first fight was on Big D’s backyard in Florida. It appeared sometime in 2003. This was the origin of Kimbo Slice, but Kimbo was not actually mentioned by name; both combatants were anonymous. The video was just another street fight captured on tape, albeit much more graphic than most typical YouTube fight videos. With the help of Big D’s grotesque eye damage (Kimbo most likely broke his orbital bone when his eye was dislocated), and his adorable lines and quotes, this video brought great awareness and scandal to the internet.

Kimbo Slice vs. Sean gannon

Kimbo Slice’s first loss came from Sean “The Cannon” Gannon, a Boston police officer who volunteered to fight Kimbo at a secret location. The rules are unknown and both fighters claim that the other violated and cheated on them. However, the result left Sean Gannon on his feet while Kimbo Slice lay on the floor of the room unable to stand up while Sean Gannon waited, even after attacking Gannon when he was on the floor. Gannon did indeed use a choke maneuver and a knee to the head, but Kimbo attempted a takedown and also attacked Gannon from the bush, thus possibly both fighters breaking the rules. The Boston Herald, a Boston newspaper, soon generated controversy over the fight.

Kimbo Slice in MMA

A few years later, Kimbo Slice caught the attention of MMA promoters who saw him as a marketing possibility and the new face of MMA. While Kimbo has brought in a lot of new fans to watch the sport, critics insist these fans are only watching to see Kimbo fight and are not interested in mixed martial arts. So far, Kimbo’s professional record is 5-0, with wins over Ray Mercer, Bo Cantrell, Tank Abbott and a close call with James Thompson.
