Bullmastiffs are a great breed of dog for your family, they are loyal, funny and very cute. However, one of the main concerns about the Havanese breed is how to tame them so they don’t get dirty. That is why it is necessary to train them on paper, and the sooner the better. The other benefit of Havanese paper training is that you won’t have to worry about taking your dog outside every few hours; this alone is worth the training effort.

The training process can be made much easier by purchasing and using a small box, training pads, and an exercise pen. These little tools help in the dog’s adjustment process and make getting started a lot easier. Due to the fact that the Havanese is a toy breed, they take a little longer to develop bladder control. However, if they were bigger, paper training wouldn’t be an option, so it’s worth it.

If you bought the dog pen, set it up to cover a small area and cover the floor with paper. Let the dog go to the bathroom wherever he wants in this pen. This sends the message to the dog that anywhere in the pen he can excrete and he can decide the best place. Also be sure to put water, food, and a little shelter in the yard. Your dog’s favorite spot during Havanese paper training may be the farthest from food and shelter.

After waiting a few days, observe where the dog appears to be dropping its droppings, and leave the paper there but slowly remove the other pieces in a process that should take a couple of days. Once this is done and you have one leaf left, the dog should stick to this smaller area. If not, go back and reload more sheets.

Now that your puppy is attached to the chosen area, you can slowly increase the size of the pen, as the size of the papers decreased. At one point you should be able to let the dog travel around various rooms in your house while always returning to the newspaper to relieve himself. Another advantage of having your dog trained in this is that wherever you take him, you have the option of finding a quiet place and letting him do his work on a piece of paper or a notebook.

Hopefully by now you have a cute playful dog who is very clean from his Havanese role training. Also remember that the dog may forget his training sometime along the way, and if this happens, take a few steps back and slowly guide the dog through his training once more.
