If you’re like me and love using rubber stamps, ink, and paper to create beautiful cards, gifts, and scrapbook pages, then you’ve probably at one point or another considered using your love of the trade to start a home business. And why not? Not only can you enjoy creating and getting your hands dirty with all that ink, but you can also support your craft with some extra income.

Here are four quick and easy ways to turn your rubber stamping hobby into a fun home-based business. There are many more, but this is just a small start for you.

1. Make cards for others – This is by far the quickest and easiest way to generate a little extra money from your love of printing. Start by creating a good portfolio of your work – get yourself a binder with page protectors and create some sample cards for various occasions with different layouts so your potential clients can see your creativity. Or get specific and targeted girlfriends or new moms and create your portfolio of cards geared towards those niches. Take your wallet everywhere and market yourself locally. You will be surprised how many people are looking for unique cards, but are not making them themselves due to the time it takes.

2. Start a rubber stamp birthday party business – It’s also easy to get started, although it may take some time to build at first. Create a “stamp camp” of several different projects that tweens and teens would enjoy, and then take it on the road. Offer to entertain the kids at birthday parties (and other events) with your craft camps and charge per person for your services.

3. Join a rubber stamping direct sales company – There are several fantastic rubber stamping direct sales companies where you can buy a starter kit and make money selling your products through home shows. The great thing about this option is that you have built in training, and you will often get marketing and advertising advice from the company you join.

4. Sell on the Internet: Create your projects and sell them directly on Etsy, eBay or other artisan sales sites. Or you can even create your own website to sell your products. Be sure to check with the rubber stamp manufacturers to make sure you are not violating any copyrights when you use their images to sell your cards.

That’s just a short list of ways to make money off your rubber stamping addiction. If you also love scrapbooking, the possibilities of adding scrapbooking services to your portfolio can also increase your reach. Be bold and put your work in the hands of your potential clients. Before you know it, you’ll be in business!
